And so it goes…

Habits…

 

I’ll be honest. I have not been keeping up on this blog like I planned.

I told myself that I would write a post every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. And so far I have not kept up on that plan.

It’s still there of course. Written down in my planner. Yet I keep forgetting or getting to the end of the day and putting it off.

 

Truthfully though, that happens to a lot of things. Too many things really…

 

I have the best of intentions to get something done or to do something daily and that never quite happens.

Instead I get to the end of the day, or even worse the next day, and realize that I never got this or that done.

Thus begins the cycle of berating myself for not doing it and then the calm resolve to succeed next time.

 

Aren’t we all like that though?

No?

Just me?

 

Well, I think part of it lies in the fact that I, or really WE, try to do too much in one day. We can’t do everything and even if we try we do a half-assed job of it.

Instead of getting things checked off the to-do list we realize after the fact that we just watched 2 hours of our favorite show.

 

That’s not to say you can’t relax and enjoy something like TV or video games. Rather that we should really prioritize what’s vital and cut out everything else that doesn’t get those select few things done.

 

Is it hard?

Sometimes.

 

Does it require regular self-reflection?

Most definitely!

 

At the end of the day though, when we make it a habit of prioritizing the select few things that need to get done, we actually feel good about spending a little time watching our favorite show or doing whatever else it is that is fun.

 

Time to seize the day, and so forth….
